Same here. My 08 Focus SES spent 9 weeks at the dealer!! The first time they tried the update they blew the "Cluster" and the airbag light was flashing on and off at random times. It was a horrible experience to say the least.

After 2 months and a week, they finally got the upgrade done but now two of the buttons on the steering wheel no longer work.

I am currently speaking with Ford to get this issue resolved.

I have had a very similar experience trying to get my 2008 Focus SES updated to Sync 2.0! A few weeks ago I called a local dealership where I usually get my oil changed. I asked if they could do the 2.0 update and they said yes. I sat there for about an hour and a half and the tech comes in and said that they tried to update it, but their computer crashed. He said call back later that week and see if the computer is working...

I called at the end of the week and asked if their computer was working and if they could now do the 2.0 update. The guy on the phone said yep, so I came in. I get there and the guy who said he is the one who does most of the Sync updates told me that they DON'T EVEN HAVE the 2.0 update yet. He said I am sorry that someone told you to come over, but Ford still has not given it to us. That means I made two trips to a dealership that did not even have the update!?!

I decided I would have better luck if I went to a larger dealership where I actually bought my car. It is an hour drive, but I thought it would be worth it. I get up there and after about an hour of waiting, the guy comes in and said that my Sync module is dead/broken. Lucky it was still under warranty, so they ordered a new Sync module and said I could come in next week to have them put it in and update it to 2.0.

I get a call last Monday saying the new module is in and I can bring it in. I get in my car...nothing. No lights, no sounds, not even the doors were unlocking with the remote. My battery was COMPLETELY DEAD. I got a free Ford tow to the dealership and have to leave it overnight as the time the tow truck got there, it was closing time. I got a free rental and went home for the night.

Next day, they called me and said the module was replaced, the update was complete. I asked them why the battery was dead and they said someone left the broken Sync module plugged into the battery and it was running all weekend.

Everything is great, right? WRONG!

My VHR does not work. I get an error every time I try to send it. Ford said they have investigated it and determined it could be my cell phone, phone carrier, Sync hardware, or Sync software. Well I could have told them that. What else could it be!?!

I am going back to the dealership tomorrow to get it "fixed." They think that the serial number on the new module was not update in Ford's database and it is trying to use the old module that was removed.

I feel your pain. As a fellow IT guy and an INSY major myself, I am extra frustrated that all these things have gone wrong. My car better turn into some awesome transformer after all of this is done.
